I've got a new blog! Yay!

Quite recently, the lovely Laura Barnes has critiqued my blog.  Before the critique, I was already contemplating on creating a separate blog for my writing.  If you have been a follower of my blog, Conversations with Self, you probably know that it started as a personal blog in 2007 which slowly evolved into a writing blog.

I got serious in my writing in 2010 when I left my job to be a full-time mother to my son who has special needs.  I began writing in my spare time. So, after reading Laura's suggestions, it got me thinking!  It's about time for a writer's blog!  So here I am!

It would make me truly happy if you follow this blog, too!

What about you?

If you are an aspiring author, have you created a separate blog specifically as a writer?

If you are a published author and already have an author blog, when did you feel it was time to do so?

  5. Lovely blog, Len. It must have been tough leaving all your follower. Hopefully you'll pick them all up.

I'm a published writer who has two writing blog. Greedy, ain't I. I have my Debs blog and another one under my pen name.

  6. Hi Lem, good luck with your new blog! And I originally started with both a blog and an author Web site. The blog took off while the Web site bombed. Not sure why. So I now have all traffic for my Web site forwarded straight to my blog. I kept the Web site because the URL contains my name.

  7. Congratulations on the new blog. Are you keeping your other blog too? My blog (as you know) is about books, writing, traveling and pets...The things that matter to me.

  8. Thank you, everyone! You are all great! Here's a big HUG!

@Sharon - yes I'm keeping my old blog...not sure though if I can keep updating it as I'm going to concentrate on this blog from now on. I love your blog, too!

  9. Congratulations. I like the idea of a separate blog, but I've stuck with the one I started before my memoir was published. I like to say my blog is eclectic - lots of things go on there including book news. My pages are more in tune to the book.
    Hope you'll come visit.

  10. Nice new digs! I don't have a separate blog, but maybe, in the future, if/when I get pubbed, I'll be sure to have a separate author website (instead of another blog) and keep the one I currently have, just because I like the freedom my current blog gives me. (freedom to talk about whatever floats my boat). Good luck!

  11. Isn't it exciting to start fresh and new - I changed blogs recently myself and it feels free-ing!

    I've followed, etc!

  12. Yay! Love your new Diggs, Len. :o) To answer your question: I'm working on a new blog/website with my name instead of windedwords, but I don't think I could just post writing stuff. It doesn't feel authentically me if I do. We will see what I come up with. :o)

  14. I started my blog when I had my first author interview on another blog and figured why not start my own?

  15. I set up my website last summer and altho it has a blog attached I only post once a month or less. My Coming Down the Mountain blog is where I hang out LOL.

  16. Looking great Len! Love it. I am in awe....I can only manage one blog. And it is subjected to anything that happens to pop into my head!

  17. Your new blog is lovely, Len! :)

And, ONE blog is (more than) enough for me. I can barely maintain it, especially when I'm in the throes of drafting, like right now. The mere thought of manning two blogs makes me want to eat my nails...and all the flesh surrounding them. O_0

I hope your 2012 is going wonderfully.

    Hugs,
    Lola

  18. I have only one blog. It talks about stuff that I think about whether it is my writing or just daily thoughts. I think I have undiagnosed A.D.D. and there's nothing I can do about that so the world just needs to accept me for who I am.

  19. I'd love to know what Laura thinks of your new blog. I bet you are the first person whose blog she critiqued did an entirely new blog based on her suggestions. You might have to be interviewed or re-critiqued!

Really, it's lovely. I'm proud to be the second follower, next to you. Can't wait to see what you post.

  21. I'd follow you anywhere! Saw this on FB, thanks to Theresa. I have been away from the internet all day. I love it, Len! Smooch!

  22. You all made me so happy to see you here! Thanks so much :)

I will still be posting ramblings here about life in general, being a mum but will try my best to focus on writing stuff. My other blog will still be there but I don't think it will be updated regularly now that I have this one. I know what you are saying about having more than one blog to manage...that was the reason why it took me so long to create this new one, LOL! But I guess it's about time because the other one can be confusing. I've considered all suggestions made by Laura and I thought it would be best to start a new blog now. New Year, new blog!

Now I will be right over to your blogs to catch up on my reading!

  23. Yay! Love this new set up, Len! :o) Congrats, it really looks great! PS: you've got some great books in your sidebar! ;o)

  24. Len, your new blog looks sensational! I have separate blogs too, the main blog is my writing blog but my kids and I created a family blog where we all contribute posts about our lives together. fun!

  25. Nice blog, Len. I only have the one writing blog. That keeps me VERY busy. I used to have a joint blog with two other writers that was supposed to focus on romance, but two of us wrote YA stories and the other erotica. Let's just say it didn't work. ;)

I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  26. Yay for shiny new blogs!

This is something I'm working on now. I want my blog to be more reader-centric... I don't want to always talk about logistics of writing or endless promotion of books. I will talk about topics relevant to my books and have some guest posters, but I want it to be more fun than instructive.

  27. I love the look! It's so easy to read! Good for keeping with one space! I've tried multiple for projects and they're just super stressful. You know I mix personal and writing all the time. I think it's important to show who you are and what you do, in the end it's your personality that shines through! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us

  28. Hi Len, Laura got you too? LOL - she did me a month ago and I changed too. Yours looks fabulous and I loved the story you had on your other blog (makes me think I should be doing that a bit more). I'm a new follower :-)

  32. Hi, I am a new follower. I found you over on Laura's blog while reading her awesome critique of your blog. I am an aspiring author and my blog is pretty much about writing. I also have an author website that it being designed now. I won't publish it until I begin the query process.

    Nice to meet you.

  33. I have my writing blog, and an author blog strictly devoted to my books. I like that I have two, but the author blog is giving me fits because I don't actually know what to do with it. It's really pretty though.
Love this look of yours. I should have Laura critique mine.

  34. I suppose I morphed my blog into my writer's blog, although I blog about several different things. It's been a couple of years now, and I have met some great people. Although, I haven't a book to market, yet, it's still great to be apart of the community ahead of time.
